Cheesecake/wife/cheesecake/Andy/cheesecake... Lev Kuleshov, Soviet
film master, experiments (early 1920's) with montage by cutting a
blank faced man with three different shots. In each case the
audience reads his blank look as having a different emotion
according to the shot that follows. What does it all mean? The
power of montage and the fabulous complexity of picture editing.
Fragments, shots add up to bigger stuff. The combination has more
meaning than the individual shots on their own. Anyhow, post your
Kuleshov experiment in the CLASSROOM. Let's see if it really works!
