Cheesecake

Cheesecake/wife/cheesecake/Andy/cheesecake...Lev Kuleshov, Soviet film master, experiments (early 1920's) with montage by cutting a blank faced man with three different shots. In each case the audience reads his blank look as having a different emotion according to the shot that follows. What does it all mean? The power of montage and the fabulous complexity of picture editing. Fragments, shots add up to bigger stuff. Onto my wife's blank face we can imprint any feeling we want. In my case, I see disdain, ambivalence, maybe some disgust, a host of emotions dredged by movie talk at the dinner table. And I thought Time Traveling Hairdressers was a great idea.
